Job description
Our client is a well-funded AI infrastructure company building dedicated NVIDIA GPU deployments and enterprise AI compute. They are hiring a fractional Data Center Design Architect to design, develop, and support scalable, secure, and highly available data center infrastructure for co-located clusters of frontier-model NVIDIA GPUs, spanning power, networking, cooling, layout optimization, interconnection, and OEM proposal review.
This is a part-time, fractional engagement.
What you'll do
- Lead the design, development, and execution of large-scale GPU clusters, including rack layout, power, cooling, networking, and deployment sequencing
- Create optimized networking structures, plan fiber allocation and interconnection, and specify bills of materials
- Review OEM proposals and NVIDIA reference architectures across GPU systems, switches, optics, cabling, racks, PDUs, cooling, and deployment timelines
- Coordinate across OEMs, colocation providers, managed hosting partners, network providers, and internal leadership, from design through procurement to installation
- Identify technical and cost risks in vendor proposals and recommend improvements to performance, reliability, deployment speed, and total cost of ownership
- Support enterprise sales and investor diligence
Compensation
$100 to $125 per hour, based on background and expertise.

Requirements
- Prior leadership in infrastructure or networking design for NVIDIA GPU clusters
- Deep understanding of data center power, cooling, rack design, networking, cabling, fiber allocation, and physical infrastructure planning
- Able to coordinate across technical and commercial stakeholders, including OEMs, colocation providers, managed hosting providers, financing partners, and customers
- Practical grasp of deployment constraints: lead times, supply chain, data center readiness, commissioning, testing, SLAs, and operational support
- Experience evaluating and optimizing bills of materials
