Job description
A seed-stage physical-AI company building a wearable AI copilot (smart glasses) for industrial field technicians is hiring a Founding AI Engineer on the computer-vision side, one of four founding engineering hires. You will own the AI core: multimodal visual reasoning, detection and segmentation, VLMs and VLAs, evals, and model orchestration. The product runs on real hardware against real customer workflows in data centers, energy grids, and aerospace.
Note on pace: this is an in-person, high-intensity environment with long days and a six-day week.
What you'll do
- Own multimodal visual reasoning, detection, and segmentation for the product
- Work with VLMs and VLAs, build evals, and orchestrate models
- Ship against real customer workflows on real hardware
Compensation
- $170,000 to $230,000 base, plus 0.25% to 0.75% equity
Location
On-site in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Requirements
- Strong applied computer-vision and multimodal AI experience (detection, segmentation, VLMs/VLAs)
- Experience building evals and orchestrating models in production
- Comfortable owning the AI core at a seed-stage company on real hardware
- Open to candidates already authorized to work in the U.S. (OPT, STEM OPT, or H-1B transfer)
- Comfortable with an in-person, high-intensity schedule
