Job description
Lead the backend platform team at an identity verification and fraud prevention company whose real-time APIs protect banks and lenders. You will own the backend systems, external customer-facing APIs, and core services that the business runs on.
What you'll do
- Lead a team of 8 to 9 seasoned engineers, including staff level
- Own scalability, reliability, and security across core services and customer-facing APIs
- Split your time roughly evenly between people management and technical work (architecture, code review, design)
- Partner with product, data science, infrastructure, and front end
Compensation
$200,000 to $260,000 base, plus equity.
Location
Remote in the U.S., with quarterly offsites. No visa sponsorship.
Requirements
- 2 to 5+ years as an engineering manager leading backend or platform teams
- 6 to 10 years as a senior or staff backend engineer before managing
- B2B enterprise, customer-facing API systems at scale
- Can manage 8 to 10+ engineers including staff level
- Polished communicator, technical and non-technical
- Stack: Go, Python, PostgreSQL, Docker, OpenSearch, AWS
- Startup or scale-up ownership preferred
- U.S. work authorization (no sponsorship)
